Had a great day at work today. Felt like I was firing on all cylinders; I was witty, quick, and very personable. It seemed like everyone else was as well. Had a ton of funny and engaging conversations with both coworkers and customers. There was also a parade going on today, and I had a great view of it from my workplace. It was super slow during the parade, so I pretty much got to watch it uninterrupted. I've decided to attribute part of it to my great sleep last night. My sleep has been good but not great for the past month or so. I sleep for about 5 hours then wake up, usally to pee. While I do easily end up falling back asleep to secure the remainder of my 8, and I don't feel particularly tired or rundown, I don't like the fact that it's split apart. I feel as if that must be bad somehow. That getting a full uninterrupted 8 hours would be much better. I decided to try to fix it by googling possible solutions. One of these was to not drink fluids 2 hours before bed to curb any need for the bathroom. This was an easily actionable step, and I decided to test it out. Lo and behold, I secured a full 7 hours last night, not being able to get the full 8 because I had to get up for work. According to my massive sample size of exactly one(1), this step worked wonderfully in improving sleep quality. I will continue attempting to catch Zs as best I can, though they may do all in their power to remain untethered. Next up is improving my sleep hygiene. Apparently that involves going to bed and waking up at the same time every day. I'll start by going to bed at 2 and waking up at 10, both AM of course. As someone that has always been practically nocturnal, I feel that 2 is a great starting point. Here is the article if it piques your interest. It's apparently for women in their midlife, but it seems to work for a man in his 20s as well.
